  • At this point, they’re at the choke point and chances for the crew to survive this seem slim. It is definitely no longer about survival (in fact, his pilot died) but it’s about doing what’s right
    • Mal doesn’t even have time to mourn the loss as now he’s in full war-mode, just like what he would have done as a Browncoat
  • He is however, conflicted about staying with his team, until Zoe tells him to go. While Mal is concerned about Zoe, their conversations are short, to the point and almost in the style of what soldiers would use
    • The flickering lights reflects that internal conflict but he finally goes, for the greater good
